Prof. dr. sc. Gabriella Medcegy trenutno obnaša dužnost dekanice Fakulteta inženjerstva i informacijske tehnologije Sveučilišta u Pečuhu, Mađarska.

Diplomirala je arhitekturu na Sveučilištu u Pečuhu (Mađarska), a potom nastavila obrazovanje na Sveučilištu u Valenciji (Španjolska) u okviru Erasmus programa mobilnosti. Doktorsku disertaciju obranila je na temu zaštićenog područja UNESCO-a u gradu Pečuhu.

Nositeljica je više kolegija studija Arhitekture na Sveučilištu u Pečuhu (Mađarska) te je gostujući predavač programa ‘Architecture Minor’ na Metropolitan State University of Denver (Colorado, SAD) i ‘Pécs Innovation Class’ na Sveučilištu Hubei u Tehnologija u Wuhanu (Kina). Također je mentor i predavač na Sveučilišnoj arhitektonskoj doktorskoj školi “Breuer Marcel”.

Članica je Mađarske akademije znanosti – Regionalnog odbora za arhitekturu, Komore mađarskih arhitekata i Udruženja mađarskih arhitekata, China Building Decoration Association te je imenovana počasnim članom Mađarske komore inženjera.

Na temelju svog iskustva u arhitekturi i ostvarenih znanstvenih rezultata, bila je pozvani predavač na EXPO 2020 Dubai (UAE, Dubai, Women’s Pavilion) gdje je održala predavanje na temu “Od grada do sela: Osiguravanje pristupa resursima u urbanom i ruralnom okruženju”.

Bila je plenarni predavač konferencije City for Tomorrow (2021.) na temu “International Front Trends of Urban Renewal / The Sensitive City” na Kineskoj središnjoj akademiji likovnih umjetnosti te je sudjelovala u projektiranju Mađarskog paviljona : “HUNGARIAN NEST+”, s g. Davidom OJO i gđom Hajnalkom JUHÁSZ u okviru EXPO 2020 u Dubaiu.

Projekti profesorice Medcegy višestruko su nagrađivani. Dobitnica je nagrade za projekt zgrade FEIT É81_G56 u okviru Natječaja za programe modernih gradova, nagrade za projekt zgrade Sveučilišnog poslovnog centra unutar Modernih gradova Program te nagrade za projekt nove zgrade Odvjetništva u Siklosu i Centra za korisnike Pannon Volán.

Bila je voditeljica međunarodnog ‘ISD Uni projekta’ (hrvatsko-mađarsko regionalno međunarodno istraživanje u području arhitekture u cilju izrade integriranih strategija regionalnog razvoja, uz potporu Europske unije) kojeg je provela u suradnji sa Sveučilištem Sjever (Hrvatska), PTE i Uredom Vlade Baranjske županije (Mađarska).

Redovita je članica Europskog udruženja za arhitektonsko obrazovanje (EAAE) te predavač European Heads of European Schools (ENHSA). Pozvani je mentor na China University Union ‘Four – Four Workshop’ (Kina), a od 2015. i predsjednica je Znanstvenog odbora međunarodnog simpozija “International Miklós Iványi Ph.D. & DLA Symposium”.

Trenutno je voditeljica projekta Sveučilišta u Pečuhu na temu biomedicinskog inženjerstva koji istražuje utjecaj arhitekture na udobnost svakodnevnog života te produktivnost na radnom mjestu.

Dobitnica je stipendija za gostujuće znanstvenike u okviru IASTE programa na Mr. Mannie Galea’s Architect Firm (Birkirkara, Malta) i “AYESA” Departamento de Edificación y Urbanismo (Sevilla, Španjolska).

Contemporary Normals in Architecture and Liveability

Architecture evolves continuously and causes changes around the classical duties of the architect inside. We love to feel how well-detailed and layered this profession is, with the well-known related fields next to architecture, such as ‘construction,’ ‘design’, ‘urban planner,’ ‘interior designer,’ or ‘product designer, etc.’
On the other hand, the time of the so-called ‘tech- professions’ has come. According to the ‘Industry 4.0 Strategy’, these new professions are: smart mobility, smart buildings, smart homes, social web, business web, smart logistics, or smart grid. There is a guess, that these new platforms will be crossed with the classical tools – for sure, they might be merged already. Time makes sure that architecture can’t get away without any impact too. And what about the future? It says, ‘living,’ ‘health,’ ‘food,’ and ‘mobility’ are keywords. All the people will definitely need a place always to live. Human health has context with architecture also since we spend our life inbuilt physical spaces in 75-80 percent of. It matters how these places are. Food? It means not only agriculture but a place for eating and creating. The wish to change locations means mobility in cities.

For sure, architecture, urban places, or easily their design methodologies need to be sensitive to the daily phenomenon. According to some flagship research at the University of Pécs, Faculty of Engineering and IT (Hungary): urban revitalization and less carbon footprint, the built heritage and intelligent equipment, well-being, and health efficiency are compatible. All these pairs have a common objective: to look for physical spaces for living in a livable environment – with the promise of the future. Some direct contemporary consequences are visible on the horizon, such as the claim to be green, sustainable, or energetically independent – with the support of digitalism, high-tech tools, or alternative design methodologies. And still being human.
